This Website has been created to try and bring together information for parents with children who have been diagnosed with both Down’s Syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. We have made the assumption that you are reading this site as it affects your life in some way, if it does then you will be familiar with the problems associated with looking after a child with Down’s Syndrome and therefore we have not included much information about this subject, what you will be interested in is how will Autism change our lives. This information and help is quite scarce and difficult to track down! We hope this helps. If you would like to share your experiences e-mail us your story and we will add it to this site.

The mission of the Down Syndrome Clinic team is to help each individual with Down Syndrome reach his or her full potential and function as independently as possible in all aspects of family, school and community life. To this end, the clinic team provides initial and follow-up evaluations, preventive medical screening, medical consultation, parent-training and ongoing therapy. The main center is in Baltimore Maryland. Currently they are taking DS individuals with AV for the DS Heart Study funded by the NIH.

Founded in 2002, Step By Step Academy is a non profit treatment center which provides a safe, nurturing, learning environment to children with autism and their peers. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the root of all treatment methods used. The research proven ABA model consists of: identifying a challenge or problem; setting goals and objectives; implementing procedures to increase, teach or reduce behaviors.
