Down Syndrome Awareness Month

ds-aw-mth-logoEvery October, Down syndrome organizations across the country celebrate National Down Syndrome Awareness Month – a chance to celebrate the abilities & accomplishments of individuals with Down syndrome. During the month of October, USOD steps up our effort to promote the acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome.  It’s not about celebrating disabilities, it’s about celebrating abilities!

In 2014, USOD in conjunction with the City of Cleveland, proclaimed October 20 as the first-ever Cleveland Down Syndrome Day.  The day featured a salute to the hard work and progress made by parents, self-advocates, medical professionals, researchers, and educators, as well as honoring special champions in the Down syndrome community.  The day was capped off by the lighting of the Terminal Tower in USOD colors in honor of National Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
